Fillmore Community Information

After being presented with one of Sunset Magazine’s annual awards for ‘The West Best Cities’, the town of Fillmore used that newfound notoriety as a springboard to bring in more visitors and improve the infrastructure of the location. That honor was only bestowed to 23 other ‘Western’ communities and is still seen as quite an honor. The town of Fillmore, California is located right in the heart of the Heritage Valley, in the beautiful location that is Southern California. A far cry from anything that’s seen as ‘stuffy’ or ‘open-all-night’, Fillmore presents itself in a more ‘noble’ manner. The town of Fillmore was founded over 115 years ago and started out as a railroad station town and still considers itself a railroad town, to this day!

The diverse population and business entities that make up the town of Fillmore are very interesting indeed. The population stands at an ever-increasing 16,000 happy and vibrant professional individuals and it is only on the rise in both economic stature and population statistics. With leisure and agricultural making up a high-percentage of the economy of the town of Fillmore, this plays into the town’s motto perfectly, ‘The West Best City’! The town of Fillmore is well represented in the agricultural sector with rows of lush citrus groves sparkling with both grapefruit and strawberry offerings. Fillmore is a fine example of what warm days and cool evenings will do to any fruit or vegetable crop coupled with the dynamic and nutrient-rich soil of Southern California.

One cannot forget the proximity to the Pacific Ocean, as this is the main reason why thousands of visitors call Fillmore their vacation destination of a lifetime, each and every year. The history of Fillmore goes back all the way to the Northern California Gold Rush of the middle 1800’s, as this town was a bustling post for both gold and agricultural crop production. Fillmore has many activities for the young as well as the young at heart with the Fillmore Equestrian Center and horseback riding. Hollywood has marked Fillmore, California as one of its most favorite filming destination locations as there seems to always be a movie being shot every day in this star-struck town.
