One of the most splendid locations in all of Ventura County is the City of Moorpark. A lovely little hamlet of 38,000 residents nestled in Southern California; Moorpark was founded by Robert Poindexter in 1900. There is some debate on whether the name ‘Moorpark’ was derived from the Moorpark apricots that grow here, or from the resemblance of the sloping hills to the Scottish Moors. A dead giveaway to the agricultural industry of Moorpark, the apricot is the ‘star of the crop’, of this fertile valley oasis.

Life can be this Good

The town of Moorpark California’s motto is “Life can be this Good.” That is a perfect label for this Southern California vacation wonderland that is only a stone’s throw away from the lovely Pacific Ocean. As with many of the Western communities of the early 1900s, Moorpark was officially listed as a town when the application for post office was received by the Federal Government of the United States of America. It did not take long for the Southern Pacific Railroad to come to town and after, that the rest, as they say, is history.

Tunnel of Hope

Moorpark grew up as a railroad-depot stop and after the 1904 completion of the 7500 foot tunnel that bore straight through the Santa Susanna Mountains, the town grew even more. Presently the population of Moorpark is very vibrant and grows each and every year. With a prodigious amount of economical commerce that is derived from both the agricultural crops and the creation of the Sodium Reactor Experiment of 1957, Moorpark is perched to be one of the most dynamic of all Southern California cities.

Moorpark College and Lions Tigers Bears

The benefit of a fine education is not lost unto the City of Moorpark as this town has one of the best exotic animal training and management programs in the country with Moorpark College. Some of the biggest employers of the town of Moorpark are involved with agriculture and energy technology. The Santa Susanna Field laboratory, along with the Energy Technology Engineering Center, which is operated by Thomas International, profit and benefit from the white-collar professional workforce which is found in Moorpark. This makes the Moorpark community one of the most upscale and environmentally-green locations in all of the State of California.

Serenity of Pacific Ocean

The Pacific Ocean is always one of the most favored reasons for visiting any of the cities or towns in South-Central California. What makes Moorpark different from the rest of the beachside locations are the people. The residents of Moorpark as known are as the most accommodating all of the Western communities and this really shows in both friendliness and opportunity for assisting all those that cross into her borders.

Simi River Importance

Moorpark is located in a valley that was created by the Simi River millions of years ago. The Simi Rive is a popular destination for many residents as well as the visitors that come to this beachside location for sun and fun and more! With one of the highest median incomes for a family in the State of California, 97,000, Moorpark offers both resident and visitor a chance to really see what a great ‘Western’ railroad town, ‘done good’, is all about.
